What changes had to be made from the original book to the screen play?
The lord of the rings is a highly in depth trilogy of books with so many stories and characters that a movie of the books almost seemed impossible to complete however Peter Jackson took it on as a task to create the films in the best way possible, but to do this however things had to shortened, removed and even changed to fit with today's way of watching film.
Converting the book to film in its entirety would possibly make a film that would probably be over 12 hours long, so Peter had to remove certain parts of the film such as the encounter with Tom Bombaldi
